What an intense and competitive two days of golf this week, July 20-21 at the BlackHorse Golf Club in Cypress. Boys and Girls in the 15-18 division competed for an automatic exemption into the Junior PGA Championship this upcoming August 3-6 at Miramont Country Club in Bryan.
Kyle Hogan (Cypress) performed exceptionally well during both his first and second rounds of the tournament. Hogan completed the H-Town Showdown seven-under-par with a combined total of 141. The STPGA is looking forward to seeing Hogan compete at the end of the summer.
After two rounds of neck-in-neck match ups, Amber Wang (Sugar Land) took the first place win for the Girls 15-18 division. Competition was fierce at the end of round 1 with low scores across the board, but Wang’s astounding eight-under-par, 64 led her to a two day total of 139 and an exemption into the Junior PGA Championship.
The Boys 11-12 division was equally competitive as James Chong (Houston) and Cole May (Austin) ended round two tied for first place. After a sudden death playoff, Chong stole the win for his division.
Congratulations to all of our winners yesterday. We are looking forward to the 2015 Junior PGA Championship. The STPGA would like wish the best of luck to everyone in their upcoming tournaments.
