The second annual Summer Preview took place this past weekend, May 9-10 at The Clubs of Kingwood – Forest Course. Consisting of four different age divisions, the competitors of the Bridgestone Golf Prestige Tour put forth two great days of golf in what was a windy and exciting weekend.
Grant Lincecum (Houston) earned a well fought victory in the Boys 15-18 division after sinking a twenty-five foot putt on the second playoff hole to defeat Jeff Wilson (Austin). Battling for first place throughout the tournament, Lincecum carded two back-to-back birdies during the second round en route to a two-day total of six-over-par, 150.
Colin Guin (Houston) stole the show in the Boys 13-14 division. With combined scores of 73-76, Guin finished with a five-over-par, 149 to win by an impressive four strokes. The wind proved to be no match for Guin.
The Girls 13-14 division showed some great competition as Valerie Routzong (Richmond), who dominated the Forest Course greens, edged out Christine Wang (Houston) by a single stroke. Routzong birdied four holes during round two, giving her the lead she needed to take home the first place trophy.
The low score for the event came in the Girls 15-18 division with Madeline Burleson (Houston) prevailing against tight competition. Burleson conquered the infamous sand traps and finished with a two-day total of four-over-par, 149 and a four stroke victory.
Outstanding performance to all the competitors of the Bridgestone Golf Prestige Tour, it was an exciting weekend at the Summer Preview!
