COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS (January 28-29, 2023) -
The Lone Star Shootout was held this weekend at The Golf Club at Texas A&M. Over 80 of our Prestige Tour boys and girls went out against cold and rainy weather with the goal to bring home a victory. The rough weather conditions cut the event down to an 18-hole tournament.

In the overall girls division, Makenzie Minshew of The Woodlands, shot a round (+2) 73 to solidify her scorecard playoff victory against Addison Surber of Montgomery in College Station. It came down to Minshew and Surber’s back nine score, which Minshew won with a 37. Having only been able to play one round due to weather, Minshew made her round count with 2 birdies and 13 pars, paving her way to a single round victory. This was Makenzie’s first win of the season and first Prestige Tour victory. Since playing with the STPGA back in 2015, Makenzie has earned 28 first place finishes and 50 top-5 finishes.

In the overall boys division, Skye Fischer of Austin, took home the victory with a round one (-2) 69 at the Lone Star Shootout. Fischer had an impressive round with 1 eagle, 4 birdies, and 10 pars to place him in the victor position. This was Skye’s first STPGA and Prestige Tour win. Since last year, Fischer has had 6 top 10 finishes on top of this weekend’s victory.
