Ben Hogan Junior Cup | STPGA Junior Golf

The Ben Hogan Junior Cup Matches is an annual competition between the Northern and Southern Texas PGA Junior Tours’ top six boys and top six girls ages 13-18 played at Shady Oaks Country Club. The Matches that take place in late summer is a way for top juniors to compete against our rival section to the north. The team is determined based on exemptions earned at Prestige Tour events.

2024 Dates & Location

Set to take place on August 5-6, 2024, the upcoming event at the historic Shady Oaks Country Club in Fort Worth is sure to be an extraordinary affair. Established by Texas Golf Hall of Fame Member Marvin Leonard, Shady Oaks holds a special place in golf culture, particularly due to its close association with the iconic Ben Hogan. As one of the club's founding members, Hogan practically made Shady Oaks his second home, spending countless hours there honing his craft.

2024 Qualification Guidelines

Players will have the opportunity to earn a spot on the Southern Texas PGA Ben Hogan Junior Cup Matches Team through various championships in 2024. The full list of qualifying opportunities are listed below.

NOTE 1: In the event that the winner of any division at the qualifying sites listed above has already met the qualifying guidelines for the Ben Hogan Junior Cup team, the next best finishing player who has not already qualified, will be invited.
After the third player is invited to play, the spot will be chosen by the Southern Texas PGA. All ties for a spot on the Ben Hogan Junior Cup team will be determined by a hole-by-hole sudden-death playoff immediately following play.

NOTE 2: If, within 30 days of the Official Practice Round of the Ben Hogan Cup Matches, a player who has previously qualified is unable to compete for any reason, the Southern Texas PGA will select a replacement.

NOTE 3: All invited players for the Ben Hogan Cup team must be a member of the STPGA and reside in the confines of the Southern Texas Section.

The 2023 #TeamNTPGA Wins the Ben Hogan Junior Cup

Congratulations to the Northern Texas PGA Texas Junior Cup team for winning the Cup at the 8th Annual Ben Hogan Junior Cup Matches on August 7 - 8 at Shady Oaks Country Club. Team STPGA put up a fight but fell short of winning the cup with an overall score of 15.5 - 8.5. Great playing from both teams!
