The Southern Texas PGA is happy to announce our new interns joining the staff for the Fall 2026 season! Please welcome these individuals into our great Section and we look to continue our incredible service and grow the game!

Digital Media Intern

Katie Freeman


Katie Freeman joins the Southern Texas PGA as a 2026 Fall Digital Media Intern from Fort Worth, Texas. She graduated from the College of Saint Mary in Omaha, Nebraska, in May 2026 with a degree in Digital Marketing.


Katie hopes to pursue a career with the PGA TOUR and continue building her experience within the golf industry. Having grown up competing in Northern Texas PGA events, she understands firsthand the importance of providing junior golfers with opportunities to compete, grow and create lasting memories through the game. Katie chose to intern with the STPGA as a way to give back to the type of organization that provided her with so many opportunities throughout her junior golf career. She is excited to gain hands-on experience while helping create those same meaningful experiences for the next generation of junior golfers.


Fun Fact: Outside of golf, Katie loves to go line dancing!

Operations Interns

Returning: Daniel Garcia


Daniel Garcia returns to the Southern Texas PGA as a 2026 Fall Operations Intern from Willis, Texas. He is currently attending Sam Houston State University, where he is majoring in Business Administration with a specialization in Golf Management and is set to graduate in 2026.


Daniel’s main career goal is to become a Golf Head Professional. For his final internship, he chose the STPGA to continue growing his tournament operations experience while also having the opportunity to work at and explore some of the premier golf courses throughout the Southern Texas region. Daniel is excited to continue developing his skills within the golf industry and gain hands-on experience through the internship.


Fun Fact: Daniel enjoys spending his free time outdoors fishing, golfing, and hiking.

Trinity Lam


Trinity Lam joins the Southern Texas PGA as a 2026 Fall Operations Intern from Sugar Land, Texas. She is a graduate of the University of Houston, where she earned her degree in Management Information Systems.


Trinity hopes to pursue a career where she can help create and share meaningful experiences for others. She chose to intern with the STPGA because of the organization’s commitment to creating memorable tournament experiences for junior golfers. Through her internship, Trinity is excited to gain hands-on experience, learn more about what goes into creating successful events and contribute to experiences that make an impact on players and families.


Fun Fact: Outside of work, Trinity loves to crochet and is a big fan of succulents. Her favorites are bear paws and cliff cotyledons!

Matthew Caskey


Matthew Caskey joins the Southern Texas PGA as a 2026 Summer Intern from Vero Beach, Florida. He is a graduate of the University of Florida, where he earned his degree in Sport Management.


Matthew hopes to pursue a career in sports event management and coordination, with a focus on creating successful and memorable experiences through sports. As his career path has led him into the golf industry, he chose to intern with the STPGA for the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and further develop his knowledge of tournament and event operations. Matthew is excited to continue growing professionally, learning more about the golf industry and gaining valuable experience alongside the STPGA team.


Fun Fact: This is Matthew's first time in Texas!

Lauren Sossaman


Lauren Sossaman joins the Southern Texas PGA as a 2026 Fall Operations Intern from Montgomery, Texas. She recently graduated from Texas A&M University in May with a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management.


Sports have played an important role in Lauren’s life from an early age, teaching her valuable lessons and creating memories that will last a lifetime. As she begins her career, Lauren hopes to give back to the sports industry and help create those same meaningful experiences for others. She chose to intern with the STPGA for the opportunity to help junior golfers experience the many benefits sports can provide while gaining hands-on experience within the golf industry. Lauren is excited to continue learning, build connections and contribute to memorable experiences for STPGA players and families.


Fun Fact: Lauren has a miniature dachshund named Bentley!

Henry Coombes


Henry Coombes joins the Southern Texas PGA as a 2026 Fall Operations Intern from The Woodlands, Texas. He graduated from Texas A&M University in August 2026 with a degree in Sport Management and a minor in Business.


Henry hopes to pursue a career in the sports industry, specifically in operations, facilities or event management. He chose to intern with the STPGA for the opportunity to expand his experience in sports while branching out into the golf industry. Throughout his internship, Henry is excited to gain hands-on experience, build his knowledge of tournament operations and learn more about what goes into creating successful events for players and families.


Fun Fact: Henry was born in England, where most of his family still lives!

Katie Gerbasich


Katie Gerbasich joins the Southern Texas PGA as a 2026 Fall Opeartions Intern. She recently graduated from Clemson University, where she earned her degree in Sports Communication.


Katie hopes to pursue a career with a professional sports team, working in analytics, communications or events. Having grown up around golf with a mom who played collegiately, the sport has always been a part of her life. Katie chose to intern with the STPGA for the opportunity to stay close to home while still traveling and gaining hands-on experience in the sports industry. She is excited to continue building her skills, learning more about the golf industry and helping create memorable experiences throughout her internship.


Fun Fact: Katie loves wearing fun socks whenever she can. Her favorite pair features Cholula hot sauce bottles and peppers!

New Braunfels, TX (August 15-16, 2026) – The Srixon Prestige Tour traveled to New Braunfels, Texas, for the Surf & Turf New Braunfels Showcase at Landa Park Golf Course, where players took on a competitive two-day championship. With great weather throughout the event, the field had ideal conditions to showcase their skills and battle for the top spots. Players delivered strong performances from start to finish, with steady play and impressive moments shaping the leaderboard across both rounds. As the competition came down to the final holes, the talented field once again showcased the skill, determination and competitive spirit that define the Srixon Prestige Tour. Thank you to our host facility, our players and parents, our Title Partner Srixon, Surf & Turf Golf, and all of our staff who made the tournament such a success. Spring, TX - Summer may be winding down, but there is still plenty of golf ahead at the Southern Texas PGA! With opportunities to qualify for Team STPGA, championship events, Drive, Chip & Putt competition and more than 100 events remaining across STPGA Junior Golf programs, the fall season is set to be an exciting one. Qualify for the Bayou Cup The road to the Bayou Cup continues this fall as junior golfers compete for the opportunity to represent Team STPGA. Players still have opportunities to earn their spot and compete alongside some of the top junior golfers in Southern Texas. Below are the upcoming events where players can earn an exemption toward a spot on Team STPGA for this year’s Bayou Cup. Boys 15-18: - Surf & Turf New Braunfels Showcase (August 15-16, 2026) - Boys 15-18 Points List Leader (as of October 1, 2026) Boys 11-14: - Antigua Sun City Showdown (September 26-27, 2026) - Boys 11-14 Points List Leader (as of October 1, 2026) Girls 11-18: - Antigua Sun City Showdown (September 26-27, 2026) - Girls 11-18 Points List Leader (as of October 1, 2026) The Bayou Cup is always a highlight on the STPGA Junior Golf calendar, giving players the opportunity to represent Southern Texas in a team competition and create memories both on and off the course. Cypress, TX (August 10-11, 2026) – The Srixon Prestige Tour stayed in Houston for the STPGA Challenge at BlackHorse Golf Club, where players took on a competitive two-day championship. Round one brought challenging conditions and rain delays, but the field remained focused and made the most of every opportunity once play resumed. Despite the interruptions, players delivered strong performances throughout the opening round before returning for day two ready to finish strong. From steady play to clutch moments down the stretch, the talented field once again showcased the resilience and determination that define the Srixon Prestige Tour. 307 Junior Golfers from across Southern Texas earned their way to the Championship after playing in countless events all summer long. THE WOODLANDS, TX (AUGUST 6, 2026) - The Southern Texas PGA Junior Golf Program wrapped up the summer season for 2026 with a record-breaking 307 player field at the annual STPGA Junior Championship. Hosted at The Woodlands Country Club – Palmer Course for the 13th time, 15 Champions were crowned across our three programs of Little Linksters, Junior Links, and Junior Tour. The extraordinary talent and sportsmanship on display all week long serve as an ongoing inspiration for aspiring junior golfers. The event started with a bang with the yearly “Carnival Day” on Monday, giving our junior golfers and families the opportunity to have some summertime fun before the competition began. In true carnival fashion, there were so many activities that it was hard to hit everything!
