City Of Mont Belvieu STPGA Challenge (September 24-25, 2022) - The City of Mont Belvieu STPGA Challenge was held at Eagle Pointe Golf Club on September 24th and 25th. This two-day event hosted 90 young golfers playing across four separate divisions.
After two long rounds of golf this weekend,
Caleb Lumpkin
from Houston claimed the Boys 13-18 overall champion title. First round, Lumpkin shot (+1) 72 for the day resulting in three other golfers shooting lower than him, leaving him in solo fourth place. Heading into round two, Lumpkin slipped a little resulting in three bogeys, and two birdies. But his scores and talent allowed him to pull through for the overall champion title, and his final score resulted in a (+2) 144. This is his second 1st place win in 2022 finishing first at the Golf Club of Houston Junior Tour event and his first ever Srixon Prestige Tour win. He has placed in the top five 41 times since he started playing with the STPGA in 2014.
Coming from Seabrook,
Amelia Guo came to dominate the course this past weekend. Kicking off round one, Amelia sunk two birdies, to finish the day with an 18-hole total of (+2) 73 leaving her with just a one stroke lead. But she did not stop there. Guo came back day two with 3 birdies in her back 9, 5 birdies overall, to finish with back to back scores of 73 claiming the overall champion title at (+4) 146, 4 strokes ahead of the field. Guo is two for two in first place wins for 2022, her first win being at the Prestige Tour Winter Showdown. She has placed in the top three 76 times while playing with the STPGA since 2014.
