HUMBLE, TEXAS (May 30-31, 2023) – The Girls Southern Texas Jr. PGA Championship #1 was held this week at the Golf Club of Houston. A total of 83 golfers teed up for the Srixon Billiard Factory Prestige Tour for two days of competitive golf.

In the 15-18 Girls Division, Sydney Givens of Austin, established herself as a forerunner in the first round. Shooting a Round One (-3) 69, Sydney was tied for third going into the final round. Following Round One, Sydney finished carding an impressive tournament total of (-9) 135, ending the tour with 10 birdies. After claiming the overall division title, Sydney earned an exemption into the 2023 Girls Junior PGA Championship at Hot Springs Country Club in August. She also earned an exemption into the 2023 Texas Junior Amateur as well as the 2023 Ascendant LPGA benefiting VOA Girls championship. This was Sydney’s fifth Prestige Tour victory since joining the STPGA in 2014.

In the 13-14 Girls Division, Michelle Lee of San Antonio, finished Round One with a score of (-1) 71. In her final round Michelle ascended the leaderboard and walked away a champion. She carded a final round (+4) 76, which included five birdies. This was Michelle’s fifth Prestige Tour win since her start with the STPGA in 2017.
Notable highlights include Kendence Lee of Bellaire who had a hole-in-one on hole seven of Round One. In addition, Amelia Guo recorded seven birdies in round two; Jasmine Do had four birdies in a row in round one; and multiple players scored three birdies in a row throughout the tournament.
This marks the first Srixon Billiard Factory Prestige Tour of the Summer Season and the first tournament of our summer series.
