LAREDO, TEXAS (May 6-7, 2023) - The Southern Texas PGA headed all the way down south for the Rio Grande Showcase at Laredo Country Club. With 44 of our Srixon Billiard Factory Prestige Tour players teeing it up, we had a weekend full of good golf.

Finishing Round One with a  (+3) 75, Brooke was in first place with a one-stroke lead going into the final round. She finished with a tournament total of  (+7) 151, sending her into a playoff with Alyssa Esparza of Laredo. After the first playoff hole, the two remained tied, until Brooke took home the win with a par on 10. This was Brooke’s first ever Prestige Tour victory since joining the STPGA in 2018. “Having my family out here with me for my first Prestige Tour win meant the world to me,” Brooke stated. This victory earned Brooke exemptions into the 2023 Texas Junior Amateur, the 2023 George Hannon Junior Invitational, & The 2023 Ascendant LPGA Benefiting VOA Girls Championship.

In the Overall Boys Division, Dylan Villarreal of Palmhurst, finished Round One with a (+1) 73 placing himself tied for fourth place with a two-stroke deficit from the leader. Intent on climbing up the leaderboard, Dylan shot a tournament total of (+1) 145 including 7 birdies, making him the overall boys division winner. This was Dylan’s first ever Prestige Tour victory, about which he said, “I’ve been waiting for this and it finally happened. I’m just really happy and I can’t wait to go celebrate.” This victory earned Dylan exemptions into the Veritex Bank Byron Nelson Junior Championship, the 2023 Texas Junior Amateur, & the 2023 George Hannon Junior Invitational.
