Three Major Events Are Ready To Go!

Spring, TX (August 2, 2024) – The Southern Texas PGA Junior Golf is gearing up for our biggest week of Junior Golf ever! We will have three Championships taking place over the course of this coming week.

1.    Ben Hogan Junior Cup Matches at Shady Oaks Country Club in Fort Worth.

2.    Insperity Invitational Tour Championship for the Srixon Billiard Factory Prestige Tour at Barton Creek Resort & Spa (Lakeside) in Spicewood.

3.    STPGA Junior Championship at The Woodlands Country Club (Palmer) in The Woodlands.

“While this was not our original plan, we could not be more ready to showcase all of these junior golfers in Southern Texas over the next 3 days,” said Thomas Hutton, Executive Director for the STPGA. “We have had another successful summer, even though mother nature caused a lot of issues, but we could not be more thankful for our players, parents, and customers for supporting the STPGA.”

The Ben Hogan Junior Cup Matches is one of four Ryder Cup style Matches contested between the Southern and Northern Texas PGA Sections and features junior golfers ages 13-18. Juniors qualified for Team STPGA via exemptions earned at Srixon Billiard Factory Prestige Tour events throughout the year.

The STPGA will be led by Braeden Hoyt, former Junior Golfer and current collegiate player at Rice University. He looks to lead a strong team to winning the cup and bringing it back to Southern Texas!

In Spicewood, the inaugural Insperity Invitational Championship will be taking place for the Srixon Billiard Factory Prestige Tour. Juniors earned their place in this highly sought-after event through exemptions distributed for performances at Srixon Billiard Factory Prestige Tour events from August 2023 – June 2024, overall performance on the 2023 and 2024 Insperity Invitational Points Lists, and special exemptions.

Originally scheduled for the week of Hurricane Beryl, the STPGA is glad to get this new event off the ground and thanks Barton Creek for helping us out. When the event concludes, both the boy and girl winner will each earn Fully Exempt Status on the Legends Junior Tour!

Last, but certainly not least, the STPGA Junior Championship for our Little Linksters and Junior Tour will take place at The Woodlands Country Club (Palmer) for the 10th time over the last eleven years. The largest junior golf event in Southern Texas will feature our fun Carnival Day and Opening Ceremonies on Monday and then two days of competition.

The Southern Texas PGA Junior Golf Program is beyond excited to have these Matches and Championships taking place this week and to see the culmination of so many juniors’ hard work pay off. Throughout the three events, we anticipate seeing over 350 of Southern Texas’s best juniors tee it up!

Below you will find a summary of coverage for each event on our different social media channels as well as direct links to each event.

San Antonio, TX (July 13-14, 2026) – Despite the Sunshine and Swing Challenge living up to only half of its name, junior golfers battled through the weather at Hill Country Golf Club in San Antonio for two days of outstanding competition. A talented field showcased resilience, determination, and impressive play in the pursuit of championship titles. In addition to the champions, four players secured the final spots in the 2026 The Insperity Tour Championship for the Srixon Prestige Tour through the Last Chance Qualifier during Round 1. Fletcher Whiting, Myles Malek, Ava Frazier, and Addison McCullough earned invitations with strong performances, punching their tickets to the season-ending championship and completing the Tour Championship field.
