Srixon Prestige Tour events head to Lake Charles, LA starting in 2023!

November 15, 2022: The STPGA is excited to announce new playing opportunities for our ever-growing Srixon Prestige Tour starting in 2023. The Srixon Prestige Tour will offer two events in Lake Charles, LA that will be comprised of both STPGA Junior Golfers and Gulf States PGA Junior Golfers via the Louisiana Junior Golf Tour.

The first event will be March 25-26 at Contraband Bayou Golf Club and the second event will be November 11-12 at Mallard Golf Club. Two thirds of the field will be reserved for STPGA Junior Golfers with standard registration policies in effect with the rest of the field being comprised of juniors from Louisiana.

The Srixon Prestige Tour was established in 2012 as the STPGA’s most elite and competitive level of junior golf. It has grown to become a year-round tour with over 35 2-day events a year. Besides from a high-quality tournament experience, the tour offers great competition and exemptions into other national and regional junior golf events. All players from both states during these events will be competing for standard exemptions that are awarded at each Srixon Prestige Tour event.

“The STPGA is thrilled to try this new initiative in Louisiana and want to thank the Gulf States PGA and the Louisiana Junior Golf Tour for this opportunity,” said Thomas Hutton, Executive Director for the STPGA. “This opportunity provides a new location for our junior golfers to play but more importantly opens the door for our juniors to play against other juniors in another section.”

These events will be open to boys and girls ages 13-18 and will feature four divisions. Registration for the March event will open on January 17, 2023 and the November date will open in late summer/early fall. The STPGA will be working with hotels in the area to get a great price for players from out of town and will communicate that when available.

“Junior golf and growing the game is so important to our mission,” said Robert Brown, CEO of the Gulf States PGA. “This co-branded event will be an awesome opportunity for juniors within both of our sections to compete against each other and showcase the great golf in the Lake Charles area of our section.”

The full January-March Srixon Prestige Tour schedule can be found here as it was announced last week. Please remember that 2023 STPGA Membership will open on December 12, 2022.

All registration for the event will run through the STPGA Junior Golf website at www.stpgajuniorgolf.com.

Just one week later, the Srixon Prestige Tour team administered the Lone Star Shootout at Hearthstone Country Club. Francisco Munoz of Richards, TX and Emma Ziniuk of Magnolia, TX found themselves atop the leaderboard after both Munoz and Ziniuk managed to hold steady after carding sub-par Round 1 scores.
