May 14, 2026 • Southern Texas PGA

Special message from Executive Director, Thomas Hutton, PGA, with your feedback requested.

Spring, TX (October 8, 2025) – Thank you so much for your continued support of one of the largest junior golf programs in the country. We are extremely grateful for your support throughout the year, and we continue to enjoy creating lifelong golfers.

2025 is a record year for the program with the largest number of members in our history (over 5,000), and we are on pace for the most rounds of golf played in the calendar year. From Little Linksters to the Srixon Prestige Tour and everything in between, we are proud of the growth in our program, but also know we can always improve and provide better experiences for everyone.

With that said, you can Click Here to take our annual survey that helps provide direct feedback to our team as we review 2025, but more importantly, plan for 2026. We want to hear directly from our parents and players regarding all aspects of our program. From the website to our communication to our golf courses to our event administration. Please Click Here to take this year’s survey, as it is a massive help to our team.

Speaking of our team, the Southern Texas PGA continues to grow and evolve, and I have some exciting announcements to share about our staff. Our current Director of Junior Golf, Lexi Sobieski, who has been with us for two years, is being promoted to Senior Director of Membership for the Southern Texas PGA. She will continue to oversee the junior golf department but will start to assist our organization on more of our PGA Member initiatives. Lexi has done an unbelievable job leading our program, and we appreciate her continued support into the future.

I am thrilled to announce that J.T. Milner will assume the role of Director of Junior Golf and lead all aspects of our first three steps in our Player Pathway. J.T. started as an intern in January 2022 and has continued to grow within our business, and I look forward to him leading the program for many years to come. From his ability to build relationships with juniors, parents, and our facilities to understanding all aspects of our program, I am excited to see how J.T. continues the positive momentum of junior golf in Southern Texas.

In addition, the STPGA is currently seeking a Junior Golf Coordinator to round out the department, and this job posting can be found here. This transition into these new roles full-time will take place over the next 30-60 days.

I would also like to thank our Srixon Prestige Tour team, led by Prestige Tour Manager Connor Murphy and our two Prestige Tour Coordinators, Casey Klassen, who started earlier this year, and Kevin Reilly, who joined us last month. Click Here to learn more about Casey, and Click Here to learn more about Kevin.

Houston, TX (May 14, 2026) - The Southern Texas PGA Junior Golf program is excited to announce a new exemption for 2026. The winner of the Boys and Girls Division at the Insperity Tour Championship for the Srixon Prestige Tour will earn an exemption to play at The Greenwood Cup Junior Invitational hosted at River Oaks Country Club in Houston, TX. Over the past decade, The Greenwood Cup has welcomed many of the game's rising stars, including Blades Brown, Farah O'Keefe, Pierceson Coody and Rachel Heck, among many others. The tournament features a Boys and Girls Division, with a four-ball team format. Invited players have the opportunity to pick a partner of their choice. The Insperity Tour Championship winners will receive an invitation to this year's tournament on October 23-25, 2026. "We would like to thank the Tournament Committee at River Oaks, including Tournament Chairman, Stuart Wallace and Director of Golf, Matt Swarts, for offering this exemption," said Thomas Hutton, Executive Director of the STPGA. "This not only adds to the reasons why juniors should try to qualify for the PT Tour Championship on July 20-21 at Boot Ranch, but also highlights River Oaks' commitment to growing the game. This first-class tournament is an event the players will remember for many years." Both our Boys and Girls winners at the Insperity Tour Championship can pick a partner of their choice, pending approval from the Greenwood Cup Committee, and enjoy the first class experience at River Oaks CC in Houston, TX. This is an unbelievable opportunity for STPGA Junior Golfers to earn another exemption for playing Srixon Prestige Tour events! Click here to find out more information about The Greenwood Cup. ROUND ROCK, TX (MAY 4, 2026) - The Southern Texas PGA Junior Golf Program wrapped up the 2026 spring season over the weekend as champions were crowned across fifteen divisions at the STPGA Spring Championship. Hosted at the beautiful Forest Creek Golf Club, the event showcased the wide range of talent in the Little Linksters, Junior Links, and Junior Tour tours over two days of competitive golf. The STPGA Spring Championship continues to be a strong gateway to the rest of the junior golf season, offering top performers unique opportunities as the year ramps up. This year saw a new opportunity for one junior golfer. Through our partnership with the Good Good Championship, Bat Masterson Thibodeaux won four tickets to the final day of competition at the inaugural PGA TOUR event. It will be hosted at Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa Fazio Canyons Golf Course in Austin from November 9-15.
