Team NTPGA Captures 14th Annual Texas Junior Cup Matches

WALLER, TX (September 21, 2025) – The 14th Annual Texas Junior Cup Matches came to a thrilling conclusion this weekend at Sand Hill Farm in Waller, TX, with Team NTPGA defeating Team STPGA 14-10 to secure their second consecutive title.
After the opening day of Four-Ball and Scramble Matches, Team STPGA held a narrow lead at 6.5 to 5.5. With everything still to play for heading into Sunday, momentum quickly shifted back and forth as both sides battled fiercely in Singles Matches. In the end, it was Team NTPGA that secured the decisive points to clinch the Cup with a 14-10 victory.
“This event is about so much more than just golf,” said Team NTPGA Captain, Jennifer Bermingham, PGA. “The opportunity to be paired with or compete against both boys and girls, while still representing your team and Section, creates a unique dynamic that many players don’t often experience.”
Team NTPGA Vice Captain, Chad Moscovic, PGA, added: “It’s a different kind of pressure when you’re playing for something bigger than yourself. Watching the players pick each other up, cheer one another on, and display such incredible camaraderie and sportsmanship, it’s truly second to none from both teams.”
The two-day competition brought together the top junior golfers from the Northern Texas PGA (NTPGA) and Southern Texas PGA (STPGA) in one of the most anticipated junior golf events of the year. Known for its spirited atmosphere and team camaraderie, the Texas Junior Cup once again delivered exciting head-to-head battles that kept players, parents, and spectators on edge until the very last putt dropped.
“This year’s Texas Junior Cup Matches were among the most competitive we’ve ever hosted,” said J.T. Milner, STPGA Junior Golf Manager. “This event is truly special to our staff, and we hope that every Junior and Parent felt just how meaningful it is to be a part of.”
The 2025 matches were contested at Sand Hill Farm Golf Course, a unique 9-hole private course created by the Tucker family, founders of Mustang Cat, and designed by former professional golfer Peter Jacobsen. The venue provided the perfect backdrop for an event built on tradition, teamwork, and competition.
The event format featured a mix of Four-Ball, Scramble, and Singles Matches, testing the players’ abilities in various formats while emphasizing teamwork and pride in representing their Section. Both sides displayed resilience and determination, but it was Team NTPGA that secured the decisive points on Sunday, clinching the Cup.
With the victory, Team NTPGA now holds the all-time series record at 7-6-1 and celebrates its second straight championship in the Matches’ history.
The Southern Texas PGA and Northern Texas PGA extend a special thank you to HUB, Levelwear, PING, and Mustang Cat for their support of the 14th Annual Texas Junior Cup Matches. Their commitment to junior golf helps make this event possible and provides a stage for the next generation of golfers to shine.
